Have you ever wondered while you’re on a forest hike,
“What if I actually got lost along the way and get stuck here?” Well luckily, I
got your back. All you have to know is the general idea of what to do to be
able to survive in the wild, specifically, in the forest areas.
- Rule #1: NEVER Panic
Okay, so basically, you are lost. You don’t know how
you’re gonna go home. You don’t know where your companions are. You don’t know
how long you’re gonna last. You don’t know this and that but that’s fine. If
you start panicking, you’re decreasing your chance to survive there. Never
panic. Keep your head cool and your thinking straight.
- Rule #2: Your Safehaven
First thing’s first, find a suitable place for you to build your new “home” that is clear from
wild animal tracks (because you don’t want them lurking beside you while you
sleep) and have a wide range of available resources nearby. When you are ready,
bring out all tools and items that you think can be useful for creating your
“tentage” such as ropes, knives, and machetes. If you have nothing, then you’re
going to have to improvise. Sharp stones can be tied on strong pieces of wood
to create your improvised axe and strong vines are a good substitute for ropes.
Go find some good branches and ropes and try to tie up a small little hut that
has enough space to take you in. Make sure to tie them properly so that it
won’t go down easily. Tie extra clothing to your mini-hut so you a roof in case
of rain. You can also use your shoelaces for parts that require less
knot-tying.
- Rule #3: Resources
The last thing you need is you dying out of starvation.
What you’re going to do is that you find a place that has water whether it’s a
river bank or a small pond. Water will be so useful for the rest of your
survival. Before drinking water, you should really heat it up first so it can
be a little safer. Then finding good food will be good. You can go hunt for
some fruits if there are some in the trees. Maybe hunt small animals (Hey don’t
be so choosy, you’re about to die there) or even try to fish for, err, fish.
But who said food and water are the only resources you’re gonna need? Go find
some good rope, branches for fire, and things that can substitute your
clothing, you lazy punk.
- Rule #4: Your Arsenal
Good equipment means good chance of survival! Try and
create spears for hunting, rods for fishing, knives for cutting and chopping,
and spiked branches for fencing purposes. You can create these things using
soil, mud, water, clay, branches, wood, ropes, vines, and even little pieces of
clothing. Get creative! You’re also gonna need a fire. Make sure you know how
to create one! You can do so by creating friction using phosphorous stones,
dried branches (This takes a while), or simply use a lighter or matchsticks,
that’ll do the job. Create your fence using carved branches so that you can set
up a perimeter around your place. You can use rope for added security by tying
them to each other around your place.
- Rule #5: Survive
Well then, you’re actually good to go! You just either
wait there ‘til someone gets you, or survive and wait until the day of your
death. But that’s a little awkward, right? Try making an SOS signal using the
smoke from your fireplace by swiping cloth in it then removing it. That way,
you’ll create series of smoke and if anyone who knows Morse Code will recognize
that smoke, then you get ready because help is on its way.
